Summary: Wolphram and Hart force Buffy to fight Angel in the Ring.
Author's Notes: This is a response to CR's challenge where Angel has to fight Buffy in the Ring.
Jack looked at the vampire he captured.
"You won't want to miss who I've paired you to fight with." He strolled out of the holding area.
Angel didn't want to think about who he was going to fight. He just went into a corner and sat down, trying to think of his love to keep him strong and sane.
*
Buffy Summers was walking with her boyfriend, Riley Finn to her dorm. He now knew that she was the Slayer, even if he didn't quite get it. There was an akward silence between them.
"Are you sure you don't need any backup on patrol?"
"Riley, for the millionth time, I don't need backup. I'm the Slayer. Which means I have super strength. I have been the Slayer for four years now. I think I can handle a few vamps. I could handle a few vamps making out. Whick was how my last boyfriend and I used to spend most of our time and I'm thinking that I need to get away before I talk about my ex too much. Bye."
Before Riley could say anything else, she was halfway across the campus. He never realized how fast she was.
*
Buffy wasn't paying attention to where she was going. She just wanted to get her mind off Angel for more than a few seconds. She didn't see the two guys sneak up behind her and shoot her with a stun gun.
The last thought before she lost consciousness was of Angel.
*
Buffy woke up slowly and looked around. She was in some kind of holding cell with other demons. There was something on her wrist and the same thing was on the wrists of the other prisoners. They were gathered around, looking at her. They ovboiusly knew she was the Slayer.
"Where am I?"
The demons snickered.
"The Ring. Basic jist is that if you get 21 kills, you're free. Only other way to escape is to die."
Buffy stood up and looked around. The crowd had dispersed and a human was standing right across from her.
"So this is the Slayer. Doesn't look too strong."
A woman in a suit standing behind him spoke up. "This is the Slayer that killed the Master, Kakistos, and sent Angelus to Hell. There is more to this girl than meets the eye."
"Really, Lilah? I also heard that she put William the Bloody in a wheelchair."
She nodded. "Do you have an interesting match for her then?"
"I have her opponent all picked out. Buffy, right? I wouldn't cross the red line. You'll disintagrate immediatly. Have a pleasent stay." The two left, leaving Buffy at the mercy of all the demons in the cell. She sat down on a bench and began to brood.
*
Angel was watching his love very closely. He figuired that he would have to fight Buffy but he didn't want to kill her or have her kill him. He had to get both of them out of here before the fight tonight. He wracked his brain for a solution and finally came up with one.
* Listen, Angelus. I'm going to let you out until we get Buffy out of here but then you better give control back to me.*
< Why would I want to make that kind of deal? >
* Because it's the only way we have to survive.*
< Alright, Alright, Soulboy. >
* Remember, just until we escape.*
< Yeah, Yeah. Now give me control. >
Angel screamed inside as Angelus came up and into control. With his vamp face on. he strolled up to the Slayer.
"Hello lover."
Part 2
Buffy looked up to see Angelus looming over her, clad in a white t-shirt, black pants and his cold, cruel smirk.
He laughted at her shocked expression. "Were you expecting to see somebody else?"
"Actually, I was. How'd you get free, Angelus? Some poor little meal make you too happy?"
"That pesky soul you love is gone. Can't say I'm sorry to see it go."
* What are you doing? Tell her the truth!"
< If I tell her the truth, Soulboy, she will never kill us and get out of here alive. That is what you want isn't? To make sure she stays alive? >
* Fine, don't tell her. She will hate us even more when we get out of here.*
< Don't you mean 'if'? >
* Shut up!*
Smartly (A.N.-is smartly even a word?) Angelus shut up.
Suddenly, Buffy giggled. "Angel's not gone. I could hear you two arguing."
The vampire looked at his Soul's mate strangely.
"After Angel cured me of the aspect of the demon: the telepathy, there was an unusual side effect. I could hear you two whenever you argued. Sorry I never told you."
"You're not supposed to be able to read a vampire's thoughts."
"Oh, I can't hear your individual thoughts. Just when you argue and fight. I could hear you and Angel talking from where you were in the corner. Pretty neat huh?"
Angelus sighed. "I think they may try and pit us against each other for the next fight."
"No. For our 21st. If we last that long."
Part 3
"What do you mean?"
"They only want one of us to make it out of here alive. If we have to fight each other for our 21st kills, then one of us has to die."
"Hopefully Cordy and Wesley figure out where we are and free us before then."
"I can tell them. All I have to do is give Cordy a vision. The Powers wouldn't let their two strongest warriors go without a fight, I'm thinking."
The two heard a door open and Jack step into the cell area. He made a beeline for Angelus and Buffy.
"Slayer, you'll be fighting Trebkos. Get ready."
He left and Angelus loked over at Trebkos.
"You kill the Slayer and I will show you how I became known as the Scourge of Europe, got it?"
"You don't scare me, vampire. And I don't take kindly to threats."
"And I don't take kindly to anything that hurts MY Slayer. Do you hear?"
Angelus had his game face on and had Trebkos against the wall, choaking him. He pressed his hand further into the demon's throat. Trebkos suffacated and Angelus threw him over the red line where he vaporized. The wrist band clattered to the floor.
Part 4
Jack returned a couple hours later to find Trebkos' wrist band on the floor and the large demon nowhere in sight.
"What happened?"
An ugly dark purple demon with spikes on his arms and a bald head spoke up from his seat on the table.
"The vampire. He threw Trebkos over the line because Trebkos was going to kill the Slayer."
"And why would a vampire care about a slayer. They're mortal enemies. Made to hate each other's guts."
"Before you came in last time, they looked like they were planning something. Maybe escape. Temporary alliance."
Jack motioned for some guards to come forward.
"Place the Slayer in the opposite cell. Make sure that they have no way to communicate to one another."
The guard took Buffy's wrist band off long enough for her to cross over the line and quickly put it back on.
"Oh, and make sure she's in the first match. Get the guests riled up for the second match with the vampire."
The guards forced Buffy out of the room, but Buffy was able to get one last thought across to him: 'Warn Cordy...'
The rest of the thought was cut off by Buffy being taken away. Angelus was glad for once he still had his soul. That way he would know right away if Buffy had been killed.
Part 5
Riley waited at the Bronze for an entire hour for Buffy to show up. He gave up and was heading home when he ran into Willow.
"Willow, have you seen Buffy? She was supposed to meet me at the Bronze but she never showed."
"The whole gang's looking for her. We haven't seen her either. We better get to Giles'."
The two ran to Giles' apartment and was saddened to see that rest of the Scooby Gang had no luck in finding their friend.
"Good, Willow, You're back. Cordelia just called. It appears that Angel is missing as well, He was on a case and never reported back in."
"Well, Angel does have a tendency to vanish for days at a time."
"I know he does, Willow. But Cordelia said that he doesn't normally take off right in the middle of a case."
Willow became alarmed. "What if Angel's a pile of dust somewhere? We could never know because the dust would scatter with the wind and then Buffy would be all desolate because she would never be able to know that Angel's not dead. That is of course assuming Buffy's still alive--"
"Willow! You're babbling again! I'm sure they are both okay. They are probably kidnapped someplace together. Even though I despise Deadboy, I would want him at least to be with Buffy. He seems to have a knack for keeping her safe."
Part 6
Riley was supposed to meet Buffy at Giles' to go on patrol. Problem was, she never showed up. None of her friends had seen her either. He was really getting worried.
He paced back and forth in Giles' living room while everyone else was seated.
"Where could she have gone?"
Willow spoke up. "I checked the Mansion and the apartment. She wasn't in either one. She wasn't at the Bronze or on campus."
Anya looked at her nails, disinterested in what was going on.
"She could have run away to LA. Since that is where Angel lives."
"I just called Cordelia. She reported that Angel has also been missing but only for a day longer than Buffy. She and Wesley were going to check out a place called the Ring. See if Angel or Buffy were captured by the people running it. She will call back when they return from wherever they were going."
Riley was confused. He didn't know anything about Buffy having a mansion or an apartment. He didn't know who Angel was or what he was to Buffy and he didn't know who Cordelia or Wesley were either. Though, from the conversation, he would probably guess that they were assistants to Angel. Whatever he did.
"Who's Angel?"
Everyone looked at him sheepishly. They had forgotten he was there.
"Angel and Buffy used to date when Buffy was in high school. He left town last May to allow Buffy to have some semblance of a normal life, which a Slayer cannot have. The Slayer doesn't walk in this world. She is not really a part of it."
"Because she hunts vampires?"
"The Slayer is more than a vampire hunter. She is the one girl in her generation that has the strength and the skill to stop evil. She is as confined to the darkness as those she hunts are."
"Maybe I should rephrase that. WHAT is Angel?"
Part 7
Cordelia Chase and Wesley Wyndham Pryce entered the Ring and took their seats to watch the fight matches. Her vision had pointed her here so hopefully, Buffy and Angel were kidnapped in this place together.
The announcer cleared his throat and doors opened into the Ring. The guards forced a little blonde out into the arena.
"Ladies, gentlemen, and other species, welcome to the first match of the night. In the challenger's corner, making her first Ring debut: the Vampire Slayer." A spotlight shone on the blonde as both Wes and Cordy gasped. The blonde was Buffy, not doubts about it.
The announcer droned on about the champion and the fight began. Buffy's moves were planned and precise. Two knives were dropped into the Ring. Buffy picked up one and thrust it right into her opponent's heart, killing it. The crowd cheered and booed and Buffy was taken away, to make way for the next fight. Two guards tossed the dead body over the red line and it vaporized, the wrist band clattering to the floor in front of Cordy's feet. She quickly picked it up and dropped it into hr purse.
Doors opened again and again Cordy and Wesley gasped. Their boss was also kidnapped here. But Cordy noticed something in the brown eyes. They held no emotions. When Cordelia was able to look into them, she wasn't able to look into the always-present guilt.
Part 8
Everyone in Giles' flat looked apprehensive. They didn't know what to tell Riley. Well, they knew WHAT, just not HOW. Giles cleared his throat.
"Angel is a vampire."
The soldier was in shock. These people tried to help hostiles. Buffy said that she killed hostiles and had been doing it for four years now. He must have had a stupid look on his face because Giles elaborated.
"Angel is different than any other vampire on the Earth. He has his soul."
Riley still looked lost so Willow tried to explain now.
"When a person is killed, their soul flees to the afterlife, either heaven or hell. By the time the demon sets up shop in the dead body, the soul has already fled. So, vampires don't have souls. When Angel as Angelus pissed of the wrong people about 100 years ago, they decided to torture him by giving his soul back to him."
"But what does this all have to do with Buffy?"
"Angel and Buffy were romantically involved periodically for the past couple of years."
Xander translated for the British ex-Watcher.
"What the Brit said was that Buffy and Deadboy as I like to call him dated on and off for close to three years."
The blonde couldn't believe that his girlfriend had dated a walking corpse. That was beyond gross. (A.N.-not so gross for Buffy and every other female cause Angel's HOT!)
"So who was it that called if this Angel fellow is being held somewhere?"
Part 9
"Wesley, look!" Cordelia tugged on the sleeve of the Brit's jacket.
"What is it, Cordelia?"
"It's Angel! There's something different about his eyes!"
"What do you mean?"
"They're cold, unfeeling."
The announcer came on then, interrupting them.
"Our challenger for the second match is a vampire straight from this very city: Angelus, the One with the Angelic Face! He's spent his past couple centuries chomping down on the necks of Europe's lost and hopeless."
The announcer then went on about the champion and the fight began. Angel pummeled the smaller demon and soon knives were dropped into the Ring. The vampire picked up his knife and before the demon could do anything, Angel beheaded him. The body crumbled into dust and Angel was taken away. The guards tossed the head over the red line.
"Did you see the way Angel fought? That was clearly Angelus, Cordelia."
"What? Do you think that Angel got too happy at seeing Buffy again?"
"It is entirely possible that the soul is still inside the body and that the demon has temporary control over the body."
"In English, please!"
Wesley sighed, frustrated.
"Angel let Angelus control the body for a while. Angel still has his soul."
"Well, that's good. Willow won't need to do the curse again and my clothes won't smell like the stinky herbs that were used."
"We need to get back to the office and figure out how the bracelets work and how to get then off."
The two stood up and went back to Angel's apartment. Wesley called Giles to tell the Scooby Gang what they had learned. Cordelia took the bracelet that she had acquired from Buffy's opponent and inspected it. There was a symbol on it. She showed it to Wesley and they got busy researching.
Part 10
Buffy was sitting on one of the bunks in the cells. She inspected the cuts and bruises the demon inflicted on her. Nothing too serious. She went back to thinking about Angel and Riley, comparing the two.Riley was from a safe state. Angel was from the Irish town of Galway, a member of one of the gentry. When she was in his arms, she felt the most safe. She felt nothing in Riley's arms. That's what her relationship with Riley was: nothing. No feelings to hurt. At least on her end of it. Angel had ruined her for mortal guys. His love was more powerful than anything else a normal guy could give her.
Angel gave Buffy security. He knew about loneliness. How lonely it was to be the Slayer at times. Being the only vampire with a soul, Angel knew all about being lonely. Being the only one in the world like himself.
Buffy also knew that if she got out of here alive, there would be no way that she could give up on Angel. It was possible that she would have to kill Angel to leave this place and she wasn't ready to exist without Angel on the planet. If she killed Angel, she would kill herself as well.
Part 11
Angelus looked at the carton of blood in his hands, but couldn't get himself to drink it. He was scared.
That was a laugh. Him, the Scourge of Europe, was scared.
He was scared that he would actually have to kill Buffy. Even when he was out during the end of Buffy's junior year of high school, he hadn't wanted to kill her. At least not right away. He had wanted to make her like himself: a vampire. That way they could be together for eternity.
"Hey you."
A voice broke Angelus out of his brooding. He looked up to see an ugly blue demon staring at him. He ignored the demon.
"I'm talking to you, vampire."
Angelus kept on ignoring him.
"Are you going to speak, vampire?"
Angelus finally got fed up.
"What the hell do you want from me?"
"So, you can speak. Everyone wants to know about you and the Slayer."
"What do you mean, me and the Slayer?"
"Just what I said. There are rumors going around that you and she were lovers once upon a time."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"I just want to know if it was true."
"Why?"
"So I know to kill her if I face her."
"You're a Facret demon right?"
"Yeah, so?"
"I always thought that your kind were peaceful, wouldn't hurt a living soul."
"Normally. But this place has taught me that it's kill or be killed. Just be sure that you don't cross me or any other demon in this place." The Facret walked away, leaving Angelus to his thoughts once again.
Part 12
Giles hung up the phone. Everyone in the apartment looked at him.
"That was Wesley. He and Cordelia saw both Buffy and Angel in that Ring place they were going to investigate. They need us to come down to LA immediately. We have a better chance at rescuing them if we are working together."
Willow could tell that Giles was hiding something.
"What are you hiding, Giles? What else is going on?"
"Nothing, " he lied. He couldn't risk them finding out.
"So, does this mean road trip," Xander asked in excitement.
"Yes, it does. I suggest you go home and pack. We need to leave as soon as possible."
The group left except for Riley.
"Mr. Giles, there's something else, isn't there?"
"The Watcher's Council told the leaders of the Ring where to find both Buffy and Angel. They plan to make sure that Angel dies for his crimes as Angelus."
"And why is that a bad thing?"
"Because Buffy and Angel are soulmates. Their love was meant to be, even prophesied. If the Council succeeds in killing Angel, Buffy will commit suicide to be with him. Their bond is so deep that if one dies and there is no hope that they will be able to come back. the other will not be able to go on living."
Part 13
Giles didn't know where the words came from. He of all people had a right to hate Angel after he killed Jenny. He also saw both sides of Angel: the soul, which was good and pure and the demon who cared for nobody save himself. Riley had left and Giles was packing since they didn't know how long they would be in LA for. He still found it hard to lie in the bed where Angelus had lain Jenny that fateful night. For as long as he lived, he would always remember how her blank eyes stared at him. How he had found the body of the woman he loved in his bed.
He didn't dare tell the teens what Wesley had told him about the Ring. If he did, there would be chaos. The fellow ex-Watcher had said that the Ring was part of the Council's plan to keep the demon population down. They wouldn't rest until Angel was a pile of dust at his lover's feet.
*
Willow walked back to her dorm with Riley in silence. She didn't know how Buffy would fare being locked up in the same place as Angel for very long. She knew her best friend still loved the souled vampire, she always will. Willow couldn't believe how many parallels there were between her and Oz and Buffy and Angel. Both men had left to give their lovers normal lives. Willow had a chance at a normal life. She could stop the Wicca stuff at any time, if she wished. Buffy couldn't stop being the Slayer. She would always be that until she died. In a few years. No slayer had ever seen thirty. Not many lived past a year after she was called. Buffy had lived for four years now as the Slayer. Willow had read in one of the watcher's diaries that the longest lived slayer lived to only be 21 nad she was 19 when she was called. Most slayers were already with their watchers when they were called.
Willow just hoped that both Buffy and Angel survived. For she knew just how much the two needed each other to go on existing. She arrived at Giles' an hour later to see that he had rented a van. They all climbed in and were on their way to save their friends.
Part 14
Cordelia was soooooo not looking forward to this little reunion of the Scooby Gang. She had moved to Los Angeles to get away from the weirdness. So when the gang arrived, she mostly stayed out of the way and spoke only when there was something to say. Wesley had suggested that everyone go down to the Ring the next night to scout the place out. They were all surprised when there would be a two-on-two match that night. They were even more surprised to hear that Buffy and Angel would be fighting side-by-side against some really huge demons.
Riley watched as the announcer announced the fight and it began. He watched his girlfriend and the dark-haired man. They had a sync that was spectacular. First Buffy would attack with a well-aimed kick to a neck, then the vampire would strike next. It was almost as if they could read each other's thoughts. It was ovbious that they had fought together before nad for a long time. Being that in sync with each other took time to master. He and Buffy were nothing like that. He knew he would probably be dead if he ad to go up against the two beefsticks Buffy and Angel were fighting. He looked around at the other people. No one else seemed surprised to see how well they were together. Riley looked over at Willow.
She seemed horrified that this type of place even exists.
Xander was watching Angel like a hawk.
Giles had an unreadable expression.
Anya was asleep, her head on Xander's shoulder.
The brunette, Cordelia, looked scared for both Buffy and Angel.
The man, Wesley, also had on a poker face.
Riley kept on watching, wondering why Buffy never told him that she had dated a vampire.
Part 15
Wesley had found the symbol inscribed on the wrist band. It was a majickal symbol. They had been trying for hours to open it but no luck so far.
"I need something small and thin that won't burn up when it comes into contact with the band."
"What about hair? From a person," Cordelia suggested in a bored tone.
"Human hair won't due but you may be on to something." Wesley looked around the room.
"Does anyone have any hair with them that isn't human?"
No one answered. Cordy looked down at her bracelet. The horse hair bracelet from her favorite horse before the stupid IRS took everything away, including the horse.
"I have horse hair. That might help."
"May we please have a piece?"
Cordy whimpered. "I don't want to destroy this bracelet."
Giles looked perturbed with her.
"What means more to you, Angel or a bracelet?"
The actress sighed and took off her bracelet.
Giles extracted a hair from it with a pair of tweezers. He held it over the band and slowly lowered the hair onto the indented symbol. Everyone held their breaths as the hair touched the symbol.
It opened without any fuss.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief except for Riley. He knew that Having Buffy and Angel in the same place was dangerous to his and Buffy's relationship. If she loved half as much as her friends said she did, he didn't stand a chance. He was already so in love with her. All the girls in Iowa would never go out passed curfew and would never have intimate relations with someone before they were married.Riley was worried, plain and simple.
Part 16
Angel was stuck inside his own body but didn't mind one bit as long as Buffy would stay safe. He lay on his bunk, staring at the ceiling. All he could see was the way they fought together that evening. All the feelings had come back to them. All the moves they could only do with each other. Angel had never felt so alive than when he was fighting beside Buffy. He knew that everyone who watched the fights tonight could see how right they were together. Angel could still hear the Morah demon from the forgotten day. "TOGETHER YOU ARE POWERFUL. ALONE YOU ARE DEAD." He knew he had to tell Buffy about the day. She deserved to know how much happiness they had that day. And how that day was the worst day of his life. That was the first time Angel had seriously considered a future with Buffy. The life he always wanted for the both of them. A wedding with Buffy in a gorgeous white gown, a honeymoon where he would make love to Buffy all night long and get out in the sun with her during the day. A couple of children that would have their mother's golden hair. A daughter that would snuggle up to his lap and ask questions about the old movie he was watching. A son he could play sports with and teach how to fight. He had seen enough laughing fathers with their kids. But he knew that that wasn't for him and Buffy. Their futures were left entirely to fate and destiny.
Part 17
Buffy was sleeping restlessly on the hard bunk. She was dreaming of Angel. They were in his apartment and were talking, then they started kissing and made love in his kitchen table. The sight was of her and Angel in his bed. She was licking ice cream off his warm chest, delighting in the rise and fall of his chest every time he took a breath. Then they were holding each other like there was no tomorrow. She tossed and turned all night.
*
Xander slept on Deadboy's couch with Anya on top of him. She was using his shoulder as a pillow. He still couldn't see why a pretty, intelligent girl like Anya could love him like she did. Sure he had gone out with Cordy in the latter part of Junior year and the first part of senior year. But that was pure lust. A hate/like/hate relationship. There were times when he wanted to kill Cordy and there were times when he wanted nothing more than to kiss all thoughts out of her head. But with Anya, there were feelings involved. He loved Anya. He never loved Cordelia.
*
Willow was sleeping on Angel's bed. She was dreaming about her and Oz's first time, the day before Graduation. She had felt so giddy afterward. She could also remember all the times during senior year she would sit up with him during his wolfy time. She loved all parts of him, including his inner wolf. It made him dangerous. Exciting. In a world where chaos reigned supreme, he was like a rock with his never-changing monosyllabic (A.N. I used a BIG word. Give me some applause!) style. She wished he would return to her. She missed him more than she thought.
*I now know what Buffy was going through the last two summers, first with Angel in Hell and then with Angel leaving for Los Angeles.*
Part 18
The group had formulated a plan to get Buffy and Angel out. But it required Buffy and Angel to be in the same place. Cordy would go and pretend to be the entertainment that came every week. She would slip Angel the horse hair and he would free Buffy first. Then Willow, Wesley, and Giles would do a fogging spell so Xander could get them out. There were a lot of places that could go wrong but they just had to pray that Lady Luck would be with them tonight. They were anxiously waiting for 9:00 to come. That was when the Ring opened.
Wesley and Giles made sure that there was a backup plan, of course. Cordelia had destroyed her bracelet to make sure that everyone had a piece of horse hair hidden on them somewhere. The backup plan was to have someone throw their horse hair into the pit if either Buffy or Angel were fighting. They only hoped that they weren't fighting each other.
Willow heard a noise upstairs in the office and went to investigate, everyone else was too busy going over the plans to hear the noise. she crept up the stairs and opened the door that led into Angel's office. She was shocked by what she saw.
Standing in the outer office was Oz. He appeared to be looking for something, or someone.
"Oz?"
The werewolf looked up, startled. He was as shocked to see her here as she was to see him.
"Willow? What are you doing here?"
"Buffy and Angel are trapped in the Ring and the entire gang is here to set them free. What about you?"
"I went back to Sunnydale to see you but you weren't there. So, I thought that Angel might know where you went, so I came here."
Willow took a quick look outside the window and saw that it was a full moon. Oz seemed to know what she was thinking, as always.
"I met these peoples in Germany. They had meditations and stuff to suppress a part of a person. So, I be a wolf only when I need to be."She flew into his arms and they kissed and all was right in their world.
"While I was there, I asked about suppressing a demon and they gave me this," he said while taking some pieces of paper out of his backpack and handed them to her. She read them over and smiled.
"Buffy and Angel will be soooo grateful! Come on downstairs, I can fill you in on a rescue plan I just thought of." She led him downstairs and told everyone her new plan.
Part 19
Jack came in and told Angel who he would be fighting tonight. The vampire wasn't too pleased when he heard who it was. All of a sudden, the doors opened and two thugs came in, carrying a werewolf. Angel thought it looked like Oz but he must have been seeing things.
"What is this?"
"A werewolf. We caught him out on the streets. Good thing too cause he was close to eating someone."
Jack tossed his head behind him.
"Put it over there." The thugs did so.
Jack turned back to Angel.
"I'd get ready for the fight of your unlife if I were you, Angelus. Even though you haven't reached 21 kills yet, I'll make a deal with you. You kill your opponent and go free. Your opponent kills you, you die. Simple enough."
The vampire snarled and Jack laughed. Angel noticed the werewolf start to wake up, but Jack didn't. He kept on telling how he was going to die tonight.
Oz stealthily walked around toward Angel and the vamp noticed that Oz had reverted to his human form. He also lightly put something into the symbol on the band and it noiselessly snapped off. Oz put it on the ground. Jack still hadn't seen Oz wake up and turn human. Oz slipped a hair of something into the pocket of Angel's pants. He went back to his original position as a werewolf on the ground.
Shortly after, Jack left, feeling quite pleased with himself.
Part 20
Angel felt in his pocket and pulled out the hair that Oz had stuck in there. He wondered why the blonde had given him a hair.
Oz made sure the coast was clear, turned human, and went over to Angel.
"What's with the hair Oz?"
"It undoes the lock on the wrist band. Where's Buffy?"
"In another room. They separated us early on."
"That's bad. We didn't know that there would be another room." Oz and Angel continued to discuss how to get to Buffy.
*
Buffy sat alone on her bunk, now the only resident in the room and feeling soooo incredibly lonely.
* I wish Angel was here to comfort me. I need him soo much. If we get out of here alive, I'm dumping Riley and staying with Angel. I need him. To breathe, to feel alive. I've been dying these past several months since Angel left.*
Buffy sighed and looked around the empty cells. Suddenly, she thought she heard Angel and Oz talking. She shook it off as going insane.
Then she saw Angel and Oz talking in her mind. She could tell that they were in the cell Angel was in . They were talking about how to get to her. An idea came to mind.
*Angel!*
*Angel!*
Angel stopped talking.
He heard Buffy, clear as day, in his mind.
*Buffy?*
Buffy sighed in relief.
*I heard you and Oz talking in my mind. Use the hair on your band and follow my voice to me. I know you can do it!*
Angel did so and soon, her door opened and Angel and Oz stepped into the lonely room. Angel came over to her and unlocked her band. As soon as it clattered to the floor, she embraced the souled vamp as hard as she could.
"God, I missed you so much! Don't ever leave me again!"
"I couldn't even if I wanted to. You're my life, Buffy. My key to redemption."
They quickly left the cell and began to make their way out into the world. Oz was ahead of them, leading. He had seen where the thugs brought him when they "captured" him. they had run in to some goons and demons but nothing the trio couldn't handle. The hallway dead ended into a ladder and they climbed. Soon, they were out into the night and were making their way to Angel Investigations where everyone was waiting for them.
